Mike Jones joined the Somerset family as the Director of Child Nutrition Services in 2021. Mr. Jones was born and raised in Houston, TX and grew up with close ties to the education community. In 2000, Mr. Jones graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake with a BBA in Management and qualifying credits for a minor in Spanish. Mr. Jones has worked in the food service industry for over 35 years and began his career in Child Nutrition immediately after his UHCLC graduation. Mr. Jones’ responsibilities include menu creation, nutritional compliance, cost control, employee training and development, state and federal regulations compliance and quality control, just to name a few. Somerset Academy of Texas partners with a Food Service Management Company that provides product, food preparation, labor and service and Mr. Jones supervises contractual compliance, as well as acts as liaison between the food service provider and Somerset Academy. “I believe that we have an inherent responsibility to develop the whole student and proper nutrition plays a crucial role in the academic success of what are sure to be our future leaders.” -Mike Jones
