Somerset Collegiate, known for its innovative approach to education, took a unique spin on science lessons this week as students used sports equipment to dive into the fascinating world of physical properties of matter.
In a dynamic and engaging experiment, students at Somerset Collegiate found themselves swapping textbooks for basketballs and beakers for baseball gloves. The goal? We had so much fun today celebrating all our Bears that met their 2nd Quarter Accelerated Reader Goals! 🎉 It was a great day filled with fun and excitement as we recognized and rewarded our students for their hard work and dedication. They were all excited to receive their certificates and prizes, and they were proud of their accomplishment. The Accelerated Reader program is designed to encourage students to read more and improve their reading skills. It helps students set goals and track their progress, and it is an effective way to improve reading comprehension and fluency. We are so proud of our Bears for meeting their 2nd Quarter Accelerated Reader Goals and for their commitment to reading. They have demonstrated that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. We would like to extend a big thank you to our teachers and staff for their hard work in supporting our students and for making this celebration a success. Keep reading and achieving Bears! 🐻 #AcceleratedReader #ReadingGoals #Celebration
We are incredibly proud of all of our Upper School Bears who made Honor Roll during the first semester of the school year! This is a significant accomplishment, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. Making Honor Roll is no easy feat. It requires a student to maintain a high level of academic excellence, earning at least a 3.5 GPA. It is a recognition of the student's ability to balance their academic responsibilities with other aspects of their lives, such as extracurricular activities, sports, and volunteering. The Upper School Bears who made Honor Roll this semester should be commended for their dedication to their studies, and for the time and effort they put in to achieve their academic goals. They have set an example for their peers and have made their families, teachers, and school proud. We encourage our students to continue to strive for academic excellence, as it is a valuable asset that will serve them well in the future. We look forward to seeing the continued success of our Upper School Bears in the future. Congratulations to all of our Honor Roll students, and keep up the good work!

Congratulations to our Students of the Month for December! 🎉 These Lions have gone above and beyond in their academics, behavior, and attitude. They have shown hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude throughout the month. To celebrate their achievements, they were treated to an ice cream sundae party. They got to enjoy delicious ice cream, toppings, and a variety of flavors. It was a fun and delicious way to celebrate their hard work and dedication. As our principal, Lily Collins says, "These students are shining examples of what can be achieved through hard work and determination. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and know they will continue to make a positive impact in our school community." Our Deputy Superintendent, Cory Oliver, also added "It is always wonderful to see our students being recognized for their hard work and dedication. These students are a great representation of the excellence that can be found in our schools." Congratulations again to our December Students of the Month! Keep up the great work!
The 5th grade students of Somerset Academy Collegiate had a blast exploring the Witte Museum today! The students had the opportunity to learn about the history, science and art of their local area through hands-on activities and exhibits. They also got to participate in interactive workshops that helped them understand the history and culture of their city. The students were particularly excited about the natural history exhibits, which gave them an understanding of the diverse flora and fauna of Texas. They also enjoyed the interactive science exhibits which provided them a chance to explore various scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way. We believe that field trips like this are an important part of a student's education, as they provide a chance to learn outside of the classroom and to see the world in a different way. The students had a great time, and we hope they will remember this experience for a long time to come! Thank you to our wonderful chaperones for making this trip possible, and to the Witte Museum for being such a great host!
